  The article “Everything You Need To Know About Tesla’s New 4680 Battery Cell”, written by (Field, 2020), introduces the features and function of the all-new 4680 tabless rechargeable battery, which is a type of lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery that is manufactured primarily by Tesla and other companies.  The article “Everything You Need To Know About Tesla’s New 4680 Battery Cell”, written by Kyle Field (2020), introduces the features and function of the all-new 4680 tabless rechargeable battery, which is a type of lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery that is manufactured primarily by Tesla and other companies. The 4680-battery cell is currently featured in the Model Y that is being produced in Tesla’s Gigafactory in Texas and it is the first battery cell to feature different chassis or battery pack design. The new 4680 battery features an all-new form factor resulting in the battery cell having a tabless design, new cathode production which brings down the cost overall and better thermal characteristics, faster charging, more charge but still maintains the same temperature as compared to previous iteration. 4680 battery cell all new features will bring a lot of benefits to the table, which includes better performance, easier manufacturing methods, and cost benefits compared to older battery

Initial Research Pathway

Vishan did a project during his polytechnic days, where he was working with Lithium batteries. Thus he got interested in doing renewable energy, resulting in us doing a thesis on Lithium Ion batteries.  CJ and Vishan, did a general Google search and found 3 articles and 3 Google Scholar articles on Lithium Ion Batteries. The team also used ChatGPT to get an overview on the company, Tesla.
